About us

We walk Zimbabwe, and we bring people with us.

Bushwalk is an outdoor community built around a simple idea: the best of this country is on foot, and it is better shared.

Who we are

An outdoor community, not a tour desk

We started walking together and kept going. What began as weekend hikes around Harare has become a regular calendar of guided walks, social hikes and multi-day journeys across Zimbabwe — Nyanga, Chimanimani, Matobo, the Vumba, and the quieter places in between that most people drive straight past.

The walking is the easy part. What we actually do is logistics: routes matched to real fitness levels, transport that turns up, permits in order, someone who knows the way and what to do if the weather changes. That is the difference between a good day out and a story nobody wants to tell.

Everything else grows out of that — the journal, the reviews, the photographs on this page. They were all taken by people who were there.

What we run

Four kinds of walking

Day hikes and social walks — around Harare and further out, most weekends.
Multi-day journeys — Chimanimani traverses, Nyanga, Matobo.
Corporate and team programmes — facilitated, at non-park venues.
Homecoming journeys — for Zimbabweans abroad, built around the December return.

The country is the point.

Most of what gets written about Zimbabwe is written by people who have not walked it. We would rather show the Eastern Highlands in the rain, the road in to Matobo, the bit of the climb where everyone stops talking — and let people decide for themselves.

That is also why the journal is open to members. The best account of a walk is usually not ours.
